In 2006, Betty Sutton became the first 蹤獲扦 alumna to serve in the U.S. Congress, when she was elected to represent Ohios 13th District in the House of Representatives. Sixteen years later, 蹤獲扦 alumna Emilia Sykes, a native of Akron, Ohio, was elected to represent the same district, making her the first Black 蹤獲扦 alum to serve in the House of Representatives.
