The 蹤獲扦 Board of Trustees will hold its next regular business meeting Wednesday, March 12. The Board will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the George Urban Board of Trustees Conference Room, which is located on the second floor of the Kent Campus Library. Trustees will retire into executive session at 8 a.m. in the Urban Conference Room to consider specific topics as provided for under Ohios Sunshine Law. Board committees will meet as follows:

Filmmaker Ken Burns Comes to 蹤獲扦 for Presidential Speaker Series

Filmmaker Ken Burns will speak at the fifth 蹤獲扦 Presidential Speaker Series on Tuesday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center).

Congratulations to Our Summer Graduates

蹤獲扦 congratulates its newest graduates. Summer 2013 commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus were held Aug. 17 at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). 蹤獲扦 conferred 1,593 degrees, including 836 bachelors degrees, 455 masters degrees, 83 doctoral degrees, 198 associate degrees and 21 educational specialist degrees. 蹤獲扦 congratulates its newest graduates. Summer 2013 commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus were held Aug. 17 at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center).

Statewide Tornado Drill to be Conducted Wednesday Morning

Ohio is conducting a statewide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 5, at 9:50 a.m. 蹤獲扦 will be participating in this test, along with the city of Kent and other communities. 蹤獲扦 tests the tornado and emergency mass notification system on the first Wednesday of every month at 11 a.m. and on the third Wednesday at 4 p.m. These tests last for three minutes. This statewide test will replace the usual 11 a.m. test in March.

蹤獲扦 to Host M.A.L.E. Initiative Conference on March 8

The second annual M.A.L.E. Initiative Conference will take place on Saturday, March 8. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., and the program runs through 6 p.m. at the Kent Student Center. The conference will feature Tim Storey, an acclaimed author, speaker and life advisor, and Desmond Howard, an ESPN analyst, Heisman Trophy Winner and Super Bowl XXXI MVP. Several 蹤獲扦 faculty and staff will facilitate dynamic conference sessions covering topics such as Media Profiles, Men and Music and Male Leadership Styles.

蹤獲扦s First Female MBA Graduate Receives Business Award

蹤獲扦 alumna Judith A. Jones is the first honoree of the Spirit of Women in Business Award. Jones, a 1964 graduate of the College of Business Administrations Masters of Business Administration program, was the first woman to receive an MBA from the university.

蹤獲扦 Hosts See You @ College Conference

蹤獲扦 hosted a one-day conference bringing together 300 community organizations and leaders to discuss ways to increase college enrollment and graduation of first-generation and academically motivated students in Northeast Ohio. The See You @ College conference took place on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The conference was free and was open to high school and college educators and administrators, community leaders, educational organizations and more.

蹤獲扦 Hosts Power of the Pen Writing Competition for 24th Year

蹤獲扦s College of Education, Health and Human Services will host this years Power of the Pen regional competition on Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Bowman and Satterfield halls on the Kent Campus. The competition challenges seventh and eighth graders from around the state to answer writing prompts. The top 50 percent of students from district competitions attend the regional level at 蹤獲扦, which has hosted the event since 1991.

In observance of Veterans Day, 蹤獲扦 will be closed Nov. 11 and will reopen Nov. 12.

  • The University Library will be open until 10 p.m. with .
  • The Student Recreation and Wellness Center will have adjusted hours  8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Ohio is conducting a statewide tornado drill at 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18. 蹤獲扦 will be participating in this test.

蹤獲扦 Remembers May 4, 1970, With 56th Commemoration

This years May 4 Commemoration, to be held May 1-4, 2026, will include special remembrances of John Cleary, one of the nine wounded students, and Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Sociology, who served as a faculty marshal during the campus shootings and worked tirelessly to ensure that the legacy of May 4 would endure.
