Spring 2017 Bowman Breakfast to Highlight the Local and Global Impact of Kent Businesses

The spring 2017 Bowman Breakfast will take place at 蹤獲扦 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom on Wednesday, April 5. Doors open at 7 a.m., breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., and the program will follow at 8 a.m.

蹤獲扦 Board of Trustees Approves Partnerships With Aramark, PepsiCo

  The 蹤獲扦 Board of Trustees today approved separate proposals for dining and cold beverage services that will transform the student experience throughout the university system. Following a competitive bid and review process, the Board approved the recommendation of university leaders to begin contract negotiations with Aramark LLC for dining services and with PepsiCo for exclusive cold beverage rights.

蹤獲扦 Selects James Hannon as the New Dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Services

James Hannon, Ph.D., will become the new dean of 蹤獲扦s College of Education, Health and Human Services, effective July 1, 2017. Hannon currently serves as professor and assistant dean of Academic Affairs and Research for the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. 

蹤獲扦s African Community Theatre Presents Spring Production of Venus

蹤獲扦s African Community Theatre in the Department of Pan-African Studies has announced plans for a production of Venus by Suzan-Lori Parks to be directed by D. Amy-Rose Forbes-Erickson, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Pan-African Studies, and performed by the Pan-African Theatre Ensemble.

The 蹤獲扦 Board of Trustees will hold its next regular business meeting Thursday, March 2. The Board is scheduled to convene at 11:30 a.m. in Rockwell Library in Rockwell Hall. Rockwell Hall is located at 515 Hilltop Drive in Kent, Ohio. Trustees will retire into executive session from 7:30-8:15 a.m. in the Rhodes Conference Room to consider specific topics as provided for under Ohios Sunshine Law.  Board committees will meet as follows:

Students Turn Smartphone Cases Into Lifesaving Medical Devices

Three 蹤獲扦 students have created smartphone cases that contain vital medication.  Together, with the help of LaunchNET 蹤獲扦, the three created Case.MD. Ariella Yager, entrepreneur major in 蹤獲扦s College of Business Administration; Samuel Graska, cell and molecular biology major in 蹤獲扦s College of Arts and Sciences; and Justin Gleason, graduate student in 蹤獲扦s College of Architecture and Environmental Design spent more than a year planning, inventing, designing and 3-D printing smartphone cases that contain vital medication. Wherever your smartphone goes, so does the medication.

蹤獲扦 Earns Tree Campus USA Designation for Ninth Consecutive Year

Ohio is conducting a statewide tornado drill at 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18. 蹤獲扦 will be participating in this test.

蹤獲扦 Remembers May 4, 1970, With 56th Commemoration

This years May 4 Commemoration, to be held May 1-4, 2026, will include special remembrances of John Cleary, one of the nine wounded students, and Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Sociology, who served as a faculty marshal during the campus shootings and worked tirelessly to ensure that the legacy of May 4 would endure.
